How sign-in works.
SkinCap uses Steam OpenID — the same protocol trusted by CSFloat, Skinport, and every major CS2 marketplace.
You click Sign in with Steam
SkinCap redirects you to Steam's official login page at steamcommunity.com.
You log in on Steam's servers
Your password is entered on Valve's page. SkinCap never sees it — not even encrypted.
Steam sends back your SteamID
A public identifier — the same number in your profile URL. No password, no tokens.
You're in
SkinCap creates your account from your SteamID64 and public profile name. That's the full extent of it.
What SkinCap cannot do
- Access your Steam password or login credentials
- Send, receive, or modify trade offers
- View or modify a private inventory
- Make purchases or move funds
- Trigger a VAC ban — OpenID is a web protocol, not a game client

What we store
- SteamID64 — your public profile identifier
- Display name and avatar (both publicly visible on Steam)
- Display preferences (currency, language, theme)
- Watchlist and alert configurations
- AI conversation history (deletable in Settings)
What we never store
- Steam password or session tokens
- Payment details — Stripe handles billing separately
- Private inventory data or trade history
- Email, phone number, or real name
- Advertising trackers or data sold to third parties

Is SkinCap free?
Yes, completely. Every feature is included for free, with reasonable limits: 20 price alerts, 5 listing alerts, a 100-item watchlist, and around 15 AI copilot messages per month.
Can SkinCap steal my skins?
No. Steam OpenID gives us zero trading permissions. We cannot send offers, list items, or touch anything in your inventory.
Can using SkinCap get me VAC banned?
No. SkinCap is a website — it has no interaction with the CS2 game client. VAC bans target software that modifies the game process. Steam OpenID is an official Valve protocol used by thousands of sites.
What if my inventory is private?
Then we can't read it either. SkinCap only accesses the same public inventory any Steam user can view. If it's private, the Inventory tab will simply show nothing.
Can I buy directly on SkinCap?
No. SkinCap is a price aggregator. We show prices and redirect you to the marketplace to complete the purchase.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Account → Delete account. All data (inventory, alerts, AI conversations) is permanently erased within 48 hours.
